The extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani hit Odisha coast near Puri on Friday morning, causing extensive damage to power infrastructure, thatched houses and standing trees.
One Women Has Reportedly died in the Fani Cyclone at Debendranarayanpur in Kendrapara district and several others were injured in five districts including Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Kendrapara.
As, The Storm Crossed Over the State of Orrisa in Morning of 03rd May, 2019, around 8am to 11am.
ODRA Forces Personalls and other Rescue Teams were immediately Put Into Action for removing the road blockages.

FANNI STORM HITS OVER EAST AND SOUTH EAST COAST OF INDIA @ 200 KMPH [APPROX] CLASSIFIED AS [CAT 5] SERIES HURRICANE IS MOVING NORTH WEST TILL 1ST OF MAY AND TO RECURVE SOON TOWARDS ANDHRA AND TAMIL NADU.

Cyclone Fanni is Brewing in South East Area of Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east equatorial Indian Ocean, which is very likely to intensify into Extreme Severe Hurricane with wind speed reaching around 200 KMPH as per Indian Meteorological Department.

Current Position of the Fanni Hurricane is In Jaganath Puri in the city of Lord Vishnu.

As of Current Scenario, Coast Guard and All Other Rescue Teams Have Been Put into High Alert. All Schools Colleges and Offices Have Been Closed. Eight Lakh People are Being Moved to secured place. As Per United Cycle Alert Centre the Second Most Dangerous Hurricane is Fanni after the Super Cyclone in 1999. As Expected to Cross Puri By 03rd May, 2019 afternoon as the effects has begun, as the rainfall has already begun in high intensity in Whole of Orrisa and Wind Speed Crossing Over 175 KMPH. Kolkaata Airport, Bhuvaneshwar Aiport and all nearby airports has Been Closed Operations Currently, flights has been suspended.


Railways has also pressed into service three special trains to ferry passengers. The 'extremely severe' cyclonic storm is likely to affect Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. The impact of Cyclone 'Fani' is likely to be much more severe than 'Titli', which had hit the Odisha-Andhra coast last year and killed at least 60 people. Chhattisgarh's Raipur and Bastar division are getting the effect of Fanni storm. There is a possibility of wind blowing at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. There is also a decrease in temperature in the state. Due to cyclonic storm Fanni, the railway has canceled more than 100 trains across the country and has diverted two trains. Five trains passing through Raipur have been canceled. Trains which are coming to Puri and Visakhapatnam have been canceled and diverted. Tomorrow Puri-Ajmer, Puri-Howrah, Puri-Sainagar Shirdi and Puri-Durg Express will not run. Apart from this, Visakhapatnam-Amritsar will run from Hirakud Express Diver Route tomorrow. According to the railway, the date of cancellation of the trains can be increased considering the impact of the storm.

Fannie will be transformed into a very dangerous storm in the next 36 hours and will move northwestwards on the evening of May 1. After this, it will turn to Odisha. Tourists have been advised to leave Puri by Thursday evening. The administration has also closed all the schools and colleges. The Indian Meteorological Department said that in the next 12 hours, cyclone Fanni is likely to move northwestwards. After this, the storm will cross the Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chambal. On reaching Puri in the afternoon on May 3, the maximum speed of this storm is likely to be 175-185 kmph to 205 kmph.
